Repeatable Frameworks: Formative Usability Testing
As a sole researcher supporting an entire company, I needed to find ways to:
Accelerate my work process, and
Passively coach my collaborative partners on user research best practices.
To do this, I created various repeatable framework templates to help all my partners understand what UX Research is, and how to work with UX Researchers.
It explains in a linear path the steps, people, and timelines expected for UXR prioritization. What happens, when it happens, and who needs to be there when it happens.
As an example, the most common request was prototype testing. The sample below is the Formative Research Framework, specifically a template for repeatable usability testing.
This accelerated my research by 400%.
This template was shared to anyone asking for a study, along with a simple one-page intake form (not shown). This process automation reduced the number of planning and alignment meetings for each study.
This expedites study launch by allowing me to come into the first meeting with a me draft plan as an anchoring artifact for collaboration.
i.e. repeatable testing structure in combination with a 1-page intake form improved Research TTV by so much.
